The $600 IT & Security Checkup

A fixed-price, fixed-scope review of the five things that most often hurt small businesses — Microsoft 365 security, backups, endpoint protection, network basics, and who has access to what — delivered in plain English, with a prioritized fix list you keep.

Who this is for

Small offices and shops, 2–25 people, one location, in the north metro. Small manufacturers and job shops welcome. Nonprofits at a capped price — ask.

Who it's not for

Medical and dental practices. That compliance world needs a provider who lives in it; we'd rather say that than fake it.

What we assess

Microsoft 365 security configuration

Multi-factor authentication coverage (admin accounts included), mailbox forwarding rules — the quiet enabler of business-email-compromise — external sharing, and where Microsoft's own secure score says you stand.

Backups

What's genuinely backed up versus merely synced, including your Microsoft 365 data, which Microsoft does not back up for you. Where permissions allow, we do one test restore, because a backup you haven't restored is a rumor.

Endpoint protection

Whether protection is present and healthy on every machine, what's patched and what isn't, and who has local admin rights on what. The findings here are usually boring and occasionally horrifying.

Network, firewall, and VPN basics

Firmware currency, default or weak admin credentials, what's reachable from the internet that shouldn't be, and the state of your Wi-Fi.

Access and accounts

Who has admin rights, which accounts are stale or shared, and whether your domain and Microsoft tenant are registered in your name — the difference between switching providers someday being a process or a crisis.

How it runs

  • A scheduled half-day with minimal disruption. Most of what we need is gathered read-only.
  • We change nothing without your explicit approval. A checkup that "fixes things along the way" isn't a checkup — it's scope creep with good manners.
  • Done by Brian Casey personally — 25+ years in IT infrastructure and security. Not handed to a junior with a checklist.

What you get

  1. A plain-English findings letter

What we found, what it means, what it doesn't mean. No jargon walls, no 40-slide deck.

  2. A prioritized fix list

Fix now / fix soon / fix eventually — each item small enough to decide on.

  3. A short debrief call

To walk through both and answer questions.

Delivered within 5 business days of the assessment.

The deal mechanics

ScopeUp to 25 people, single location. Larger? Separate quote.
NonprofitsCapped pricing — ask.

Fixes aren't bundled into the $600. You take the findings to whoever you trust — us, your current provider, or in-house. If you want us to do the work, we quote it separately.

Why fixed price matters

Most "free assessments" are sales decks in disguise, and most audits bill by the hour with no ceiling. This is one price, one scope, one deliverable, stated before you say yes. If the checkup earns your trust, the follow-on conversation takes care of itself.
